- ➤ For-Mar nature preserve hosted its fifth annual I Hiked For-Mar challenge hikes on Saturday, Jan. 3, where participants explored every trail with guided hikes such as Coffee & Birdsongs Hike. It will also host a Valentine's Day Owl Prowl in February. Mid-Michigan Now

- ➤ Cristina Gutierrez launched Chica Churros in 2025 in Flushing after over five years perfecting her churro recipe, serving warm, made-to-order treats with build-your-own options at local events + she plans to expand into a food trailer later in 2026. MLive
- ➤ Sweetwater Tavern in downtown Flint closed Saturday (Jan. 3) after the Detroit chain updated its Facebook hours to closed; the bar known for its specialty chicken wings first opened in May 2024. Mid-Michigan Now
