COMMUNITY NEWS

  • On Dec. 28, 2025, Monitor Township firefighters were honored after reviving an unconscious man on Calabria Drive using CPR and an AED. The rapid response stabilized the patient, who was transported to McLaren Bay Region for further treatment.  Mid-Michigan Now
  • Gloria Coles Library will host an MLK Day celebration on Monday, Jan. 19 to honor Dr. King. Local residents can join community activities and hear speakers as they remember his legacy.  ABC 12

CULTURE NEWS

  • The Gloria Coles Flint Public Library—celebrating 175 years—revives its Julia Moore Bad Poetry contest, inviting fun entries until March 18. Winners will celebrate and may read their poems on Saturday, April 18 at 2 p.m. at 1026 E. Kearsley St.  Flint Beat
  • Flint Institute of Arts announced a lineup of art exhibitions, workshops and community programs that will take place in the coming weeks at its downtown space + more details are available on their website.  ABC 12
  • The Whiting will host a 'Mrs. Doubtfire' musical soon—local theater enthusiasts can expect a fresh take on the classic story, with performance details to be announced.  ABC 12

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Origami Rehabilitation hosted a class (with the Disability Network) on Jan. 13 in Flint, offering education and support to local community members.  ABC 12

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • The Genesee County Sheriff's Office held its 39th I.G.N.I.T.E. Graduation Ceremony Tuesday morning. The event, which supports inmate education + growth, featured keynote speaker Teresa Hodge from Mission: Launch, Inc.  Mid-Michigan Now
