  • Flint Public Library will host a sensory-inclusive magic show for the community; registration is required for the free event.  Mid-Michigan Now
  • The Community Foundation of Greater Flint announced new trustees on Jan. 28 who bring diverse backgrounds from education, healthcare and finance. The board expects these appointments will support local leadership and strengthen community impact.  Flint Beat
  • The Daughters of the American Revolution will recognize local residents for outstanding service at its annual 'Good Citizens' ceremony (the group was founded in 1890).  ABC 12

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Flint Parent Collaborative will host a Special Education & Learning Support: A Legislative Forum today from 10 a.m. to noon at Gloria Coles Flint Public Library. Panelists, including Dr. Steve Tunnicliff (Genesee Intermediate School District Superintendent) and others, will discuss ways to better support local special education.  Flint Beat
  • Flint Promise Scholarship Program will expand its services after receiving a grant from the NBA Foundation & the new funds will help more students access improved educational support.  Mid-Michigan Now

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • UM-Flint public safety officers responded to a 911 call last Friday near Harrison and 2nd Street after finding a man collapsed in sub-zero weather and rescued him quickly—body camera footage shows Sergeant Mackenzie Thrower's prompt action—and he later received treatment for his seizure.  ABC 12

HEALTH NEWS

  • Hamilton Community Health Network expands its Burton Clinic by adding a second site to boost primary, women's, dental, and pediatric care for local families. An opening ceremony is today at noon at 3373 S. Saginaw St & patient care will begin Monday, Feb. 2.  Flint Beat

REAL ESTATE NEWS

  • Flint Township approved rezoning and conditions for a 259-home development on West Maple Avenue on Jan. 26, with plans for both sale and rental homes. The developer said construction might begin later this year pending final approval.  MLive
