EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ The Charles Stewart Mott Foundation in Flint is launching a national pitch competition for K-12 students as part of its centennial celebration, inviting participants to submit a video lasting 30 to 90 seconds by Feb. 27. Finalists will compete in June for over 1,000 cash prizes. Flint Beat
- ➤ Faculty, staff, and community leaders gathered at the University of Michigan-Flint mixer on Thursday at the Northbank Center's Park Place Room to build future partnerships. Attendees later networked at Queens Provisions (Ken Sylvester highlighted the new engagement). Mid-Michigan Now
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ Eligible households earning $69,000 or less will receive free tax preparation from IRS-certified volunteers through United Way's VITA program. Services will be offered at multiple Flint sites, including the Public Library and MCC Regional Technology Center, on scheduled dates starting Feb. 7. ABC 12
