- ➤ Rocky's Great Outdoors, a local business in Burton since 1971, is closing its store and starting a liquidation sale today which will last 12 weeks. The 46,000 sqft store (at 4014 Saginaw St.) is up for sale as family and staff honor the legacy of founder Rocky Roll. MLive

- ➤ This February, Flint hosts Black History Month celebrations with art, music and community gatherings across the city. Today, the annual brunch takes place at Genesys Conference & Banquet Center while events like the Tap Dance Festival and Black Violin performance continue throughout the month. Flint Beat
ECONOMY NEWS
- ➤ Genesee County lottery game spending in 2025 totaled over $233 million, with residents spending nearly $5.8 million per 10,000 people as the county ranked 11th in Michigan for per-resident lottery sales. Lottery proceeds helped fund public education through the Michigan Schools Aid Fund. MLive
ENVIRONMENT NEWS
- ➤ Flint water remains within state and federal lead limits with a 6 parts per billion reading over the latter half of 2025, state regulators report. The city's ongoing project — which replaced nearly 11,000 lead service lines at a cost of around $97 million — will resume next spring. ABC 12
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ Mark Mitchell, a double amputee on Thornton Avenue, has been forced to crawl in and out of his home for over a year after a promised wheelchair ramp was never built. A city spokesperson said they are investigating the situation. Mid-Michigan Now
- ➤ The Burton City Council approved over $600,000 for a mile-long walking path linking Kelly Lake Park on Lapeer Road to For Mar Nature Preserve on Genesee Road. The project is expected to boost walkability in Burton. ABC 12
