  • Step Afrika! brings its high-energy stepping performance to the FIM Whiting Auditorium on Friday, March 13 at 7 p.m.—a family-friendly show lasting about 1 hour and 20 minutes with no intermission and tickets starting at $31, with a discount for Genesee County residents.  Flint Beat

EDUCATION NEWS

  • IGNITE marked its 40th graduation Tuesday at Genesee County Jail when 42 inmates completed education and life-skills training (supported by Tiny Ivy), with graduates saying they now aim for college.  ABC 12
  • Dr. Craig Douglas spoke about the importance of literacy during National Reading Month in Flint on Mar. 10, emphasizing community resources and practical tips to boost reading skills. His talk offered clear guidance for local educators and families.  ABC 12

  • A gas station and convenience store development was discussed by the Burton Planning Commission during its March 10 meeting at City Hall, concerning two parcels (in Burton near Court Street) that would see a 2,824 sqft building, 14 parking spaces, eight fuel pumps, and the removal of an existing home.  MLive

  • Hamilton Community Health Network and Flint Area Links will host the Black Family Wellness Expo on Friday, March 20 from 1-4 p.m. at 2900 N. Saginaw St., where free health screenings + vaccinations and enrollment help will be offered along with community giveaways.  MLive
