- ➤ A fire early Friday left The Dapper Barber Company a total loss and caused smoke damage at Al's Quick-Release Bicycle in Davison — the local Chamber of Commerce is offering help and no one was injured. Mid-Michigan Now

- ➤ Halo Burger on Saginaw Street in downtown Flint is scheduled to reopen in March, promising to bring its classic menu back to the neighborhood. ABC 12

- ➤ Isabella Manchester, a high school sophomore from Birch Run, is a top 15 finalist in the art competition at the Zekelman Holocaust Center in Farmington Hills. Her paintings honor Holocaust history and address hate following a recent synagogue attack in Oakland County. ABC 12
ENVIRONMENT NEWS
- ➤ Consumers Energy has deployed 450 crews across Michigan as a storm brings high winds, snow, and freezing rain. Residents are advised to heed travel advisories and stay at least 25 feet away from downed power lines. ABC 12
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ Michigan lawmakers passed several bills this week to reduce medical debt by changing hospital debt collection practices and placing limits on interest rates. The new rules require hospitals to offer financial help for residents facing unexpected health costs. ABC 12
- ➤ Flint received nearly $650,000 in state marijuana tax revenue in 2025, making it the top municipality in Genesee County. Overall, Genesee County collected almost $3.8 million from 35 licensed retailers (funds used for schools and roads). MLive
- ➤ The Genesee County Animal Control will be renamed Animal Care next week after the Board approved the change to reflect its modern services (including shot clinics and a food pantry). Director Jay Parker said the update will help shed the old stigma tied to high euthanasia rates. MLive
