  • The Flint Alumnae Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority—partnering with the Gloria Coles Flint Public Library—is hosting its 16th annual Community Basic Needs Fair on Saturday, March 22, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the library on E. Kearsley St where over 30 local agencies will offer resources in family support, health care, financial services and workforce development and attendees can enjoy giveaways and door prizes.  Flint Beat

CRIME NEWS

  • A 25-year-old man was fatally stabbed Friday evening at a Flint McDonald’s, and a 53-year-old man was arrested for his alleged role in the altercation that began around 5:40 p.m. on March 14 on S. Dort Highway—state police continue to investigate the homicide.  MLive

CULTURE NEWS

  • Communities First, Inc held the second annual GatHERing on Saturday, bringing together a diverse group of women from Genesee County to attend panels, breakout sessions, and share themed mocktails and lunch during Women’s History Month. Essence Wilson, co-founder of the event, said she looks forward to expanding the gathering in year three and beyond—promising more chances for self care and networking.  Mid-Michigan Now

  • The Genesee County Board of Commissioners approved a resolution on March 12 declaring March as Women’s History Month and honoring five local women including Sarah Emma Edmonds, Eva R. Bells, and Olive Beasley—women who changed our local and national history.  MLive
