- ➤ Nineteen local children in the inner city hockey program will take part in an intra-squad scrimmage at Dort Financial Center (3501 Lapeer Road) on Sunday, March 23 from noon to 1 p.m., with free admission for families; the game marks the season’s end and gives kids a chance to learn hockey skills in a pro-like setting with free transportation provided as needed. - ➤ Flint is hosting the Mid-Michigan Pet Expo, a three-day event with pet sports, live demos and product displays that runs through Sunday. - ➤ Rungphet Bodnar, a Flint-area letter carrier, saved a young girl from a dog attack almost a year ago in Flint Township and was honored with the Central Region Hero award by the National Association of Letter Carriers on Thursday. - ➤ The Michigan Public Service Commission approved a rate hike for Consumers Energy that will add about $153 million to its revenue each year and raise residential electric bills by 2.8% instead of the planned 8.2%. Michigan Attorney General Dana Nessel said her office helped reduce the increase—she warned that more hikes may come as the company seeks additional changes. ABC 12

- ➤ Lawmakers on March 19 warned that proposed federal budget cuts may soon reduce Medicaid, school meal programs and SNAP benefits in Flint.
