  • A 9-year-old from Burton launched a fundraiser for the Humane Society using cookie sales, bracelet sales, and can returns (supported by local city council members) as she works to help the cats at the shelter.  Mid-Michigan Now

BUSINESS NEWS

  • GM will add a sixth production day at Flint Assembly Plant in June to meet rising truck demand plus the change will require overtime for roughly 4,000 workers at the historic facility built in 1947.  MLive

CULTURE NEWS

  • FIM venues in Flint begin a month of diverse shows featuring cabaret, musical theater, dance, and comedy starting today at FIM Elgood Theatre. Tickets are available online — Genesee County residents get a 30% discount at select outlets.  MLive

EDUCATION NEWS

  • A mid-Michigan woman is helping local residents access student loan forgiveness through her consulting firm (Hagens Consulting LLC) to ease education costs.  ABC 12
  • Voters in Genesee County will decide on two school funding proposals on May 5. Grand Blanc Community Schools is asking for a $149M bond for new construction and improvements — Linden Community Schools seeks a millage increase to fund repairs and updates.  MLive

SPORTS NEWS

  • The Flint Firebirds defeated the Owen Sound Attack 10-0 Monday night at the Harry Lumley Bayshore Community Centre, taking a 3-0 series lead. Seven players scored multi-point games and Game 5 will take place Wednesday at the same venue.  MLive
  • Four high school bowlers, including Flint Kearsley’s Jameson Vanier, Grandville’s Ethan Brown, Tecumseh’s Kierra Pinter & Bad Axe’s Jasmyn Ranquist, headline the Michigan High School Interscholastic Bowling Coaches Association Dream Team for the 2025-26 season, honoring their state title wins and career achievements.  MLive
