  • After playing Lotto 47 for over 20 years, a Bay County woman won a $1.1M jackpot on March 21 with a ticket bought at Beson’s Supermarket (in Kawkawlin). She chose a lump-sum payment of about $762k and visited Lottery headquarters in Lansing to claim her prize.  MLive
  • Flint Children’s Museum held its annual egg hunt yesterday, challenging kids to find over 7,000 eggs hidden with candy, toys, T-shirts, and a free family membership. The Easter Bunny joined in, making for a delightful start to Easter weekend in Flint.  Mid-Michigan Now

ACCIDENTS NEWS

  • After Tuesday night's rain, a roof collapse at an apartment on North Saginaw Street left tenants temporarily displaced and repair crews began fixing the damage; a city inspector and public health manager are checking on those needing safe shelter.  ABC 12

CRIME NEWS

  • Flint police are investigating over 200 illegally dumped tires at an abandoned home on Copeman Boulevard and say a business may be responsible while offering a reward up to $1,000 for tips.  Mid-Michigan Now

CULTURE NEWS

  • Jeff Skigh will headline Flint Under the Stars at the FIM Capitol Theatre on Wednesday, Apr. 15 at 7 p.m. The show will feature King Cashes and Twicee with tickets available on a flexible donation basis — proceeds will benefit KidsTix.  Flint Beat

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Demolition is set to begin this month in Maple Creek Preserve to clear homes for an advanced manufacturing site & Rep. Carra is urging Attorney General Nessel to file an injunction to pause the process until plans are finalized.  Mid-Michigan Now
  • Flint is offering free lawn bags to residents this week as yard waste collection season begins. Households can collect up to three bags per visit at City Hall, Mays Senior & Community Center, or McKinley Community Center, and the city advises proper disposal to prevent flooding and citations.  MLive
  • Michigan drivers can share their worst pothole stories on Fix MI State's contest for a chance to win $800; five winners will be selected each month through June. The contest aims to help offset rising car repair costs reported in a 2024 study + keep locals informed on road conditions.  ABC 12

  • Flint’s new mixed-income development, The Gatehouse, is a $7 million project at 309 W. Fifth Ave now offering 16 rental units built for the local workforce. An open house will be held on April 16 from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m. to showcase available units.  MLive

SPORTS NEWS

  • The Flint Firebirds advanced in the playoffs on Apr. 3 + they will face Windsor next in a key matchup that many local fans are eagerly anticipating.  ABC 12
  • During March, Pistons guard Ausar Thompson earned his second Eastern Conference Defensive Player of the Month honor following a win over Minnesota on Thursday, posting top steals and blocks figures despite missing five games with injury — his efforts propelled the team closer to clinching the top playoff seed.  MLive
  • Alex DeBrincat scored twice and John Gibson made 32 saves as the Red Wings beat the Flyers 4 to 2 at Xfinity Mobile Arena on Thursday. The win ties the team for a playoff spot and the club will face the Rangers in their next game Saturday at 12:30 p.m.  MLive
