  • Throughout April, food pantries in Flint will offer free food to residents in need. Events are held at Bethel United Methodist Church on Mondays at 10 a.m., Asbury United Methodist Church on Tuesdays at 10 a.m., R.L. Jones Community Outreach Center on Thursdays from 10 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., and HIS Ministry at the Bristol Road Church of Christ on Tuesdays from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.—call 810-239-4441 for details—and updated schedules are available from the Food Bank of Eastern Michigan.  Flint Beat

CRIME NEWS

  • Flint police are searching for Allison Sa’naiya Blackwell—a 17-year-old girl who went missing on April 1 from a home in the 3800 block of Park Forest Drive.  MLive
  • Police in Flint responded shortly after 4 p.m. on Sunday, April 6 to reports of a shooting in the 600 block of Stockdale Street and found a man who was taken to a local hospital where he was pronounced dead—authorities are asking anyone with information to come forward.  Mid-Michigan Now

CULTURE NEWS

  • Tom Papa will perform his Grateful Bread Tour at FIM Capitol Theatre on Thursday, April 10 at 8:00 p.m.—the show will offer live comedy for Flint audiences.  ABC 12

  • Flint Firebirds goaltender Nathan Day (team MVP who earned a shutout in his professional debut) signed a three-year entry-level contract with the Edmonton Oilers on Saturday. He joins the Oilers after Flint was eliminated from the OHL playoffs earlier this month.  MLive
  • Flushing split its doubleheaders this weekend—Dom Oyler led with strong hitting—and Swartz Creek stayed perfect by sweeping Birch Run as Wyatt Jolman struck out 13 batters.  MLive
