- ➤ Local faith groups have raised $23.6 million to renovate Berston Field House plus add 57,000 sqft featuring basketball courts and an elevated track; a celebration is set for 3:30 p.m. Sunday, Apr. 26 at Macedonia Missionary Baptist Church, with donations accepted through Apr. 20 and completion expected early 2027. - ➤ Genesee County commissioners will consider a proposal today to expand the Rx Kids cash assistance program for new mothers, if approved providing nearly $1.3 million from county Health Department reserves to fund prenatal and monthly payments in six communities with high Medicaid birth rates. - ➤ CBS will end Stephen Colbert’s Late Show on May 21 and replace it on May 22 with Byron Allen’s 'Comics Unleashed,' airing Monday through Friday at 11:35 p.m., with the game show 'Funny You Should Ask' afterward; Allen (owner of Flint’s WJRT) leads CBS’s new late-night comedy block. MLive

- ➤ Late Grand Blanc West Middle School football coach Logan Welch's family established a scholarship fund in his memory to honor his love for March Madness and community spirit. Winners will be announced in May as applicants share their shining moments that reflect his leadership. ABC 12

- ➤ Grand Blanc Township resident Jim Short said heavy rain filled his backyard with four feet of water recently, worsening a decade-long flooding problem. The Genesee County Drain Commission is working with local officials and neighbors to fix the drainage system (fixes may cost about $8 million). Mid-Michigan Now
- ➤ A flood warning remains in effect until early tomorrow afternoon for Kearsley Creek near Davison, with minor flooding forecast and river stage recorded at 10:00 a.m. Tuesday. Meanwhile, Bayt and Brew coffee shop welcomes locals on Linden Road in Flint. ABC 12
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ Roundabout construction will begin Monday, Apr. 13 on the Elms-Beecher intersection and close it until late June. A posted detour (via Morrish, Corunna, Linden, Beecher and River roads) will add travel time. MLive
SPORTS NEWS
- ➤ Local high school baseball players to watch this season include 10 standouts such as Colby Carper-Goode (Mt. Morris) and Jac Sandlin (Swartz Creek), who are expected to boost team efforts. Schools aim to build on last year’s success as the season unfolds. MLive
- ➤ The Michigan High School Athletic Association announced new playoff divisions for Flint-area prep football teams for the 2026 season. Swartz Creek moved to Division 2 and Flint Carman-Ainsworth to Division 3 (based on enrollment), while others adjusted placements. MLive
