ACCIDENTS NEWS

  • A crash on Saturday, April 13th at the Davison Rd. and Irish Rd. intersection in Davison Twp. happened when a fast Volvo C70 ran a red light and hit a Chevy Equinox, leaving an 88-year-old man and his 68-year-old passenger in critical condition—while the 22-year-old Volvo driver is stable and his 22-year-old passenger is in good condition.  Mid-Michigan Now

BUSINESS NEWS

  • Flint natives Trachelle Young and her son Curtis Young opened Genesee County’s first mother and son law firm on Feb. 21st at 4442 Beecher Road in Flint Township—launching a legacy project with affordable legal services—and they plan to expand to Texas.  Flint Beat
  • At the Flint Commerce Center, a St. Louis-based distributor leased the final 162,637 square feet of the first building at the former Buick City site and is expected to create 50 new jobs—city and Ashley Capital will hold a ribbon-cutting ceremony today as the building is shared with Victory Packaging.  MLive

CRIME NEWS

  • A 32-year-old Flint man—Christopher Meadows—was sentenced to life in prison after being convicted of 15 felonies including first degree murder for a shooting on July 21st, 2019 that killed Wanda Garner and critically injured two others near downtown Flint.  Mid-Michigan Now
  • A pedestrian was critically injured on West Atherton Rd over the weekend after being hit by a car, and police have located the vehicle but still need to identify the driver.  Mid-Michigan Now

CULTURE NEWS

  • Four local DJs, including DJ Chef Nate + DJ Hype, will face off at FIM Capitol Theatre tomorrow as part of the Flint Under the Stars concert series on April 16. The 90-minute show, hosted by CJ Barnes + known as CJ the DJ, offers tickets on a pay-what-you-can basis with a suggested $10 donation to help fund the KidsTix program.  Flint Beat

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Flint’s 3rd Ward residents may not be able to vote in the special primary election on May 6 because the ward boundaries have changed since the councilman was elected. City Clerk Davina Donahue said residents unsure of their eligibility should call her office for more information.  MLive

SPORTS NEWS

  • Crim returns its training program for athletes using prostheses, working with Primary Prevention Physiotherapy (PPP) and Bremer Prosthetics to build strength. Many athletes who finished a 1-mile race in 2024 now join the 15-week program to train for races at the HAP CareSource Crim Festival of Races.  MLive
