- ➤ Halo Burger's historic Saginaw St. location (built in 1929) will host a grand reopening ceremony on April 27 with exclusive swag for the first 300 guests. Mid-Michigan Now
- ➤ Flint Engine Operations will begin producing GM’s new LS6 6.7L V8 engine for the 2027 Corvette models later this year, reviving the city’s historic small block legacy that started in 1954; the engine outputs 535 horsepower & 520 lb-ft of torque. MLive
ENVIRONMENT NEWS
- ➤ Michigan DNR advises homeowners to avoid pruning oak trees from April 15 to July 15 to prevent oak wilt, a fungal disease spread by sap-feeding beetles. They recommend pruning during winter and covering any accidental wounds (with tree-wound paint) to slow infection. MLive
- ➤ Servpro of Northwest Genesee County reported nearly 650 calls for flood damage last week and urges homeowners to set up backup sump and trash pumps as up to five inches of rain is forecast tonight in Mid-Michigan. ABC 12

- ➤ Michigan high schools can apply for the Detroit Lions' 2026 Touchdown in Your Town program to secure equipment, technology, apparel, and grants. Applications close at 9 a.m. Friday, April 17 (coaches, athletic directors, and staff apply online), with five football and five cheer programs selected. ABC 12
- ➤ Monday's high school sports in the Flint area showcased strong pitching and hitting across baseball, softball, soccer, tennis, golf and lacrosse (including wins for Holly, Flint Powers Catholic and Imlay City) as teams competed hard at multiple venues. MLive

- ➤ Maryville University sophomore Elizabeth Teuber (2024 Flint Powers Catholic High School graduate) repeated as Division II Player of the Year and became the fourth bowler in National Tenpin Coaches Association history to earn the honor. She was named Second-Team All-America and will compete at the ITC Nationals in Green Bay from April 16-18. MLive
- ➤ Five Flint-area boys basketball players earned AP all-state honors after standout performances in district and state contests from February to March, with players from Davison, Powers Catholic, Flint Elite, New Lothrop, & Genesee Christian proving their skill on the court. MLive
