  • Anna’s House bought the Grand Blanc Big Boy restaurant to open its 14th Michigan location and plans to restore the space for local families; meanwhile, Genesee County bars and stores spent over $74 million on liquor in 2025.  MLive

CULTURE NEWS

  • El Ballet Folklórico Estudiantil will present its annual Cinco de Mayo celebration at the Flint Farmers Market on Friday, May 1 from 6-9 p.m., hosting a reunion for former Washington School students and families as Mariachi music, folklórico dance, and local vendors honor Flint's Latino heritage.  MLive

  • Dr. Craig Douglas (a local education adviser) offered guidance on choosing classes for next school year in Mid-Michigan yesterday, helping students and families decide on courses.  ABC 12

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Genesee County Road Commission officials are asking drivers to slow down in work zones during National Work Zone Awareness Week — they warn that reduced speed helps protect construction workers and prevent accidents.  Mid-Michigan Now
  • Mundy Township officials explained that demolitions at the megasite will not cause a long-term drop in tax revenue, with taxable values increasing from $12,350,000 in 2022 to $19,330,000 by 2025. The study shows short-term changes are balanced over time & development remains on track.  ABC 12

  • Retro Slam wrestling will be at Dort Financial Center on Sat. April 25 — the event revives classic wrestling for local fans seeking high-energy action.  ABC 12
  • Local high school sports fans can vote for top senior athletes in baseball, softball, soccer, lacrosse, golf and tennis until 11:59 p.m. on April 26, and nominations can be sent via email by April 23.  MLive
