- ➤ Communities First, Inc. is hosting two job fairs (April 30 and May 7, 1 to 3 p.m. at 1112 W. Bristol Road) to recruit local subcontractors, suppliers and job seekers for the Orchard Lane redevelopment project in Flint’s Sixth Ward. The events will support work such as cleanup, carpentry and flooring installation (for 45 residential units) as construction of Orchard Manor Apartments continues. Flint Beat
- ➤ University of Michigan Flint held its annual Officer Friendly Day on Saturday to help individuals with autism and their families connect with local police. The event featured food, games and sensory activities *including Storytime with an officer* and *training on safely crossing the street* to build mutual respect. Mid-Michigan Now

- ➤ Officers in Flint held a free, anonymous Drug Take-Back Day event on Saturday—April 26—to let residents safely dispose of unused or expired medications including pills, liquid forms, patches and sharps. SPORTS NEWS
- ➤ Over the weekend, high school gamers gathered at the University of Michigan Flint Recreation Center for the MiHSEF spring finals — teams from over 70 schools competed in games like Call of Duty, Fortnite, Rocket League and Super Smash Bros — and 15 champions were crowned as the finals will be held annually at UM-Flint through 2028.
