- ➤ Flint is holding Love Your City month in May to invite residents, block clubs, and local groups to clean up neighborhoods, parks, and public spaces. The city will provide free supplies and has arranged special curbside pickup services for large items, bagged trash, and brush bundles + community groups can coordinate local cleanup events through Flint’s Office of Blight Elimination. - ➤ Flint police officers saved the life of a prematurely born baby after they answered an emergency call about a woman giving birth in a car earlier this month— they removed the newborn from tangled pajamas and began rescue breaths— before paramedics transported the child to Hurley Children's Hospital for care. - ➤ Police confirmed a shooting occurred at Family Dollar on Clio Road and Stewart Avenue in Mt. Morris Township last Friday (around 3 p.m.), and investigators have not yet released details on injuries or suspects. ABC 12
- ➤ Flint police are investigating a shooting that left a woman dead on April 27 at 2:05 a.m. near the 2600 block of Thomas Street — no suspects have been identified and officials urge anyone with information to call in. MLive
- ➤ Michigan law enforcement agencies launched Operation Ghost Rider over the weekend to target distracted drivers by deploying unmarked vehicles—funded by the Michigan Office of Highway Safety Planning and led by the National Transportation Safety Organization—to alert marked units for traffic stops. - ➤ An American Lung Association report shows that Detroit received an F grade for ground-level ozone and poor particle pollution—recording more than six unhealthy days of smog—while several mid- and west-Michigan counties also earned low ratings.
