COMMUNITY NEWS

  • Motherly Intercession opened a new building at 1188 Robert T. Longway Boulevard on May 1 to help families break the cycle of incarceration. The Flint nonprofit now offers afterschool programs and parent classes to about 45 children and 30 parents—strengthening local partnerships.  MLive

BUSINESS NEWS

  • The new family-owned Johnson Pharmacy—located on Saginaw Street—opened yesterday in Flint. The local business was started by a Flint family to offer personalized pharmaceutical services.  ABC 12

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Flint’s 3rd Ward will hold a special primary election on May 6 to narrow the field from four candidates for a City Council seat that will complete Quincy Murphy’s term ending Nov. 18. Only voters living in the original ward boundaries can vote—absentee ballots and drop boxes are available to avoid postal delays—while polling places open from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m.  MLive
