CULTURE NEWS

  • The Great Lakes Garrison of the 501st Legion celebrated Star Wars Day on May 4 in Flint by hosting a themed event for fans in costume (a local nod to the iconic franchise). The group will plan future events to keep local enthusiasts engaged.  ABC 12

ECONOMY NEWS

  • Local delivery driver Kasie Anderson is struggling with climbing gas prices, reduced orders, and smaller tips, which makes it hard for her to support her family in Flint. She now handles fewer deliveries as fuel expenses rise + customers tip less.  Mid-Michigan Now

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • MDOT will begin a $6.9 million resurfacing project on I-75 from US-23 to Court Street on Monday, May 11 in Genesee County, and drivers should expect lane and ramp closures that will rotate on Fridays for northbound and Sundays for southbound until work finishes in September.  MLive
  • Michigan state Sen. Mallory McMorrow defended deleting past social media posts amid Senate primary campaign criticism. She said the tweets were removed in a 2021 clean-up + to keep her voice genuine, though some rivals warn the move could hurt her in the swing state race.  ABC 12
