COMMUNITY NEWS

  • Flint Farmers' Market will open its new outdoor pavilion Saturday, May 9 to host vendors and offer shoppers an open-air venue that refreshes the community market experience.  ABC 12

ECONOMY NEWS

  • Top Line Farms in Davison faces high input costs as owner Tyler Jelinek said the farm now pays $10,000 for diesel every ten days, and fertilizer prices are up nearly 47%. This makes the season the most expensive in the farm’s history as it sells cattle directly to the community.  Mid-Michigan Now

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Grand Blanc voters approved a $149 million school bond to expand early education facilities, build a performing arts center and upgrade security and tech in the schools. The bond keeps the tax rate at 6.3 mills — $6.30 per $1,000 taxable value — for six additional years.  ABC 12

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Flint residents can vote on park improvements as part of a $20 million centennial initiative, with online votes accepted until June 6 plus in-person input at Family Fun Days on the Flint Cultural Center campus from noon to 6 p.m.  ABC 12

HEALTH NEWS

  • Building Strong Women is hosting a mental health event on May 9 at Empowered Believers Church in Flint (to support community wellness).  ABC 12

SPORTS NEWS

  • Flint and Saginaw bowlers competed in an annual tournament Wednesday that brought together players from teenagers to seniors—Richfield Bowl owner Jim Tuber said the event, revived after a COVID break, offered a friendly test of skills between longtime rivals.  Mid-Michigan Now
  • Flint City AFC will open its 2026 women’s soccer season at home Saturday, May 16 at 7 p.m. at Atwood Stadium when they host Tulip City United — an event that wraps up the Vehicle City Girls Soccer Classic with two high school games and a youth soccer night offering free admission for kids.  ABC 12
