- ➤ Flint students attended a glamorous prom on Saturday, May 9 at Southwestern Classical Academy, arriving on expensive cars and in stylish outfits. They then traveled by charter bus to the Golden Glow Ballroom in Saginaw, where two sets of kings and queens were crowned. MLive

- ➤ 7 Brew has proposed a new drive-thru coffee shop with 20,000 drink combos to replace an old Krispy Kreme site along Corunna Road in Flint Township. The planning commission will review the application tomorrow, May 14 at 5 p.m. — at the township offices on S. Dye Road. MLive

- ➤ The Sloan Museum of Discovery will host The Lost World of Dragons exhibit from May 16 until September 13 (a family-friendly event) to offer local visitors an immersive look at prehistoric lore. ABC 12
EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ Flint Central High School campus will be rebuilt with up to $100 million from the Mott Foundation to open a new high school in fall 2028. The project already received over $6 million for design and site preparation and will include updated classrooms, improved technology and off-campus learning opportunities. ABC 12
- ➤ Applications for the next Leadership Flint and Genesee class will open May 20 with two virtual info sessions scheduled on that day and June 3; applications are due by July 3. Candidates with two years’ experience and employer approval will meet monthly from September through March, the program said. MLive
- ➤ Genesee County Jail’s I.G.N.I.T.E. program held its 41st graduation class Tuesday, May 12. The inmate education system (designed to break the cycle of incarceration by offering job training and skills) will mark its sixth anniversary soon, according to the sheriff’s office. Mid-Michigan Now
