- ➤ Hands of Hope, a Flint non-profit, opened a new facility on May 2 to expand its thrift store and boost education programs for third- through fifth-grade students at Haskell Youth Community Center. - ➤ A 25-year-old man is accused of shooting two women at Clovertree Apartments off West Court Street in Flint Township on March 4 and faces three counts of assault with intent to murder plus six weapons charges as his case was bound over to Genesee County Circuit Court on May 8. MLive
- ➤ Today in Montrose Township, a 49-year-old man died when a trooper shot him during a high-risk search warrant execution on a home on River Grove Road after he refused to drop his shotgun—meanwhile a 47-year-old woman was injured with a non-life-threatening gunshot wound, the trooper was placed on leave, and three others were detained for questioning. - ➤ Michigan lawmakers passed new school safety and mental health bills in response to the Oxford High School shooting, requiring all schools to create emergency plans and share anonymous tips within 24 hours — the legislation now moves to the state Senate. Mid-Michigan Now
