A 28-year-old Byron man allegedly punched his mother and set a car on fire near the 12000 block of Hogan Road on March 8 — he faces charges of fourth degree arson, assaulting or resisting a police officer, and domestic violence with a pretrial hearing set for May 20 in Genesee County Circuit Court.

Horace Peterson was released on May 14 after serving 52 years in prison for a wrongful murder conviction—his freedom achieved by a joint petition from legal teams and celebrated by his devoted family.

On Thursday, a $10,000 grant from the Ben Bryer Foundation helped children on Flint's northside build home libraries at Holmes STEM Middle School Academy.
