  • Flint is hosting a teen resource fair at McKinley Center (249 Peer Ave) from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Wednesday, May 27; teens can obtain state IDs, birth certificates and open bank accounts while accessing education, health and employment resources.  MLive

BUSINESS NEWS

  • An international food manufacturer is building a new plant in Fenton to use a water-based extraction process for plant-based milk and create at least 96 jobs with state funds and tax breaks. Fenton Food and Beverage is led by Yahya Abbas of YaYa Foods Corp.  ABC 12

CULTURE NEWS

  • Actor Sean Astin filmed a non-traditional Christmas movie in Michigan, with key scenes shot in Holly (and also in Detroit and Rochester) as the project makes the rounds at film festivals while planning a release next Christmas season.  MLive
  • The FIM has unveiled its 2026‑27 season with Broadway hits, family shows and Flint Repertory Theatre returning to local venues. Package renewals are available now, new packages go on sale May 29 and individual tickets will be available starting July 1.  ABC 12

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Fire marshals from across Michigan trained today at Flint Gas City facility to handle natural gas emergencies. Thirty marshals practiced identifying hazards and preparing for potential explosions (a key measure in fire investigation), officials said.  ABC 12

HEALTH NEWS

  • State Sen. John Cherry and Rep. Jasper Martus will host a mental health forum at Genesee Health System on May 21 from 5:30 to 7 p.m. The event will feature speakers Dan Russell and Albert Ujkaj and offer information from eight local organizations to connect residents with healthcare services.  MLive
  • The Women’s Wellness Expo was held yesterday (May 19) at New Paths Community Center in Flint, offering local women health resources and wellness sessions.  ABC 12
  • Genesee County paramedic deputies will soon carry blood to treat trauma patients with severe bleeding before they reach the hospital. The program partners with the American Red Cross + Hurley Medical Center + University of Michigan after special training.  ABC 12
