- ➤ Congresswoman Kristen McDonald Rivet and local leaders protested on Saturday outside the Flint Genesee Job Corps Center after the Department of Labor paused the program on May 29, affecting job training for nearly 150 youth—students and alumni joined the protest urging the Labor Secretary to restore funding. - ➤ Na’Ziya Lewis, a 17-year-old fashion designer from Flint, launched her company Nailuxe in March and has gained national attention with features in magazines and shows across Michigan and the United States. Her brand will debut internationally at Paris Fashion Week in October — and she mentors local youth as a senior intern with 810 Fashions. MLive

- ➤ Alfred Bradley of Tapology has been named a Taproot Fellow and awarded a $60k grant for his tap dance projects in Flint. He will use the funds to expand summer programs and mentor youth in the art and cultural history of tap dance — a commitment that spans over four decades. Flint Beat
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ The Flint Police Officers' Association (FPOA) called on city officials to set aside differences after protest tensions sparked incidents on June 4 and June 5, including an event where an elderly man was dragged during a protest. - ➤ The Four Lakes Task Force secured an $80 million bond to fund the Four Lakes Dams and Lakes Restoration projects through mid-2026. Property owners will see a 5.94% interest rate on their winter tax bills— an extra one percent to cover deficits— and a webinar is scheduled for July 9th. ABC 12
