GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • MLive's investigation found that Michigan conservation districts spent over $32 million last year while holding elections in unusual locations (vineyards, barns, and park gazebos) with very low voter turnout and minimal state oversight. The report also noted rare incidents of financial misdeeds, including a $573,159 embezzlement and unapproved bonus payments, prompting calls for reforms to improve accountability.  MLive
  • A resurfacing project on Grand Blanc Road in Mundy Township is expected to slow traffic today as crews begin work from Elms Road to Linden Road with one lane open in both directions—drivers should expect delays until the work is completed by Friday, June 13.  MLive
