- ➤ Dr. Bobby Mukkamala, a Flint doctor diagnosed with a brain tumor, was sworn in as the new AMA president while the Lapeer community remembered Dan Gerlach, a bowling alley owner who died from leukemia, and two Flint men were convicted in a 2021 drive-by shooting murder. The Flint City Council approved a nearly $60.9-million budget today—aimed at preventing a shutdown, while Taste of India will open by July 4, Fenton will start a $4.6 million street improvement program, water settlement payments are expected later this summer or early fall, and a Flint man was arrested for an armed robbery at a Lapeer Holiday Inn. - ➤ Today MDOT begins repairs on three Genesee County bridges including the Miller Road/I-75 interchange, I-75 over Swartz Creek, and the I-69/I-75 interchange. Work includes concrete patching, joint resealing, and painting with intermittent lane and shoulder closures—northbound lanes open on Fridays and Saturdays while southbound lanes remain open on Saturdays and Sundays.
