- ➤ Car enthusiasts are set to join Trend Settas Corvette Club's 15th annual car show tomorrow at 125 E. Kearsley St in downtown Flint from 9am to 4pm. Organizers said over 160 competitions will take place and all proceeds, including five scholarships and over $5,000 in student aid + support, will benefit local youth. Mid-Michigan Now
- ➤ A summer road trip called Unity in Action stopped in Flint yesterday morning at the Genesee County Sheriff’s Office—led by US United co-founder Sheriff Chris Swanson—to capture local stories and promote unity. The tour will visit every state to honor law enforcement and community members working to bridge divides. Mid-Michigan Now
- ➤ Jeff Skigh — a Flint native — is hosting the free community event Live at Carriage Town, Part 3 on Saturday, June 28 at 307 Mason St from 3 p.m. to 10 p.m. The event will feature over 25 performers and three DJs, nearly 20 vendors, free food, live music, and a bounce house for kids — a family cookout that brings Flint together. - ➤ Mid-Michigan brings five events this weekend that give local residents a range of fun choices. In Flint, the Sloan Museum Auto Fair runs tomorrow from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. and a free Corvette Car Show starts at 9 a.m.; Saginaw hosts the Great Lakes Bay Pride Festival from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m.; Bay City offers an ‘80s party from 7 p.m. to 10 p.m.; and Grand Blanc holds Drag Queen Bingo from 7 p.m. to 10 p.m. MLive
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ Flint City Council approved funding for residential plumbing repairs to remove lead pipes and a grant to demolish vacant Atherton East Apartments before Ninth Ward Councilman Jonathan Jarrett left the meeting—breaking quorum and halting further votes. Other measures, including emergency funding for the Flint Genesee Job Corps Center and a settlement in a lawsuit with former Fire Chief Ray Barton, were set aside for future discussion. ABC 12
- ➤ Flint will celebrate July 4 with a fireworks display and enforce a curfew at 6 p.m. on that day for anyone under 17, with the curfew ending at 6 a.m. on July 5. Residents may set off consumer fireworks at home from 11 a.m. until 11:45 p.m. on July 3, 4, and 5—violators face a $500 fine and seizure of their fireworks. MLive
- ➤ Genesee County’s Mass Transportation Authority honored disability advocate Michael Zelley Thursday by naming its training and development center after him near Dort Hwy and Lapeer Road—the center will offer ADA and safety training to public transportation employees. Mid-Michigan Now
