- ➤ On Saturday night, the National Federation of the Blind of Michigan Flint/Genesee Chapter held its fundraiser, Blind Date Etiquette: A Night in Paris, at the Flint Institute of Arts with a cocktail hour at 5 p.m. and a gala from 6 to 10:30 p.m.; the event featured keynote speeches, live entertainment, and raised money to support programs for those who are blind or have low vision. CRIME NEWS
- ➤ During a routine traffic stop Saturday night in Flint Township, officers seized three guns with high-capacity magazines — one was reported stolen — from a vehicle carrying an 18-year-old and a 17-year-old, arresting the 18-year-old and releasing the 17-year-old to his parents. ABC 12
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ Flint’s lead pipe replacement program has faced delays since the 2017 settlement—slow work, poor records, and resident mistrust have left many unsure about their service lines. State officials now plan to finish repairs on homes, including capping pipes in vacant properties, by fall. ABC 12
- ➤ Flint Bishop Airport received a $4.9 million grant from the U.S. Department of Transportation for repairs to its terminal roof, gutters, and directional signage. U.S. Rep. Kristen McDonald Rivet announced the funding on June 25—airport officials said the money will boost passenger and cargo movement. Flint Beat
