- ➤ Alley Fest will return to Buckham Alley on July 12 with live music, local vendors, food trucks and family-friendly activities from 2 to 10 p.m.—the free event is hosted by Friends of the Alley and presented by Communities First, Inc. Flint Beat
- ➤ Cimple Home Construction replaced the roof at M-57 Towing and Repair on Vienna Road in Montrose in one day with 25 workers. The company donated part of the proceeds to Montrose Township Senior Center to help buy a new van for transporting seniors to events. ABC 12
- ➤ Flint’s 10th annual water festival kicked off on July 3 at Downtown Flat Lot on 125 E. Kearsley Street — offering a giant water slide, foam pit party, dunk tank, carnival, outdoor concert, and fireworks display. A Bruno Mars tribute band called Uptown Funk will perform and drop-in pickleball games with Flint City Bucks players add to the fun — the carnival opened Thursday at 2 p.m. and today’s free holiday celebration runs from 7 to 10:30 p.m. Mid-Michigan Now

- ➤ Police blocked part of Fenton Road at Major Street as they investigated a shooting at The Hair Shop — on Flint's south side — where one man died and another was injured around 1 p.m. on Thursday. ABC 12
CULTURE NEWS
- ➤ Local Fest, one of Flint's most anticipated music events, will take over Flint Local 432 at 124 W. First St. tomorrow, July 5 from 4 to 10 p.m. Twelve local acts will perform hip hop, punk, and rock while food vendors and creative activities add to the celebration — with local sponsors such as Genesee Health System supporting the event. GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ MDOT will close one lane each way and the ramp access on I-75 at Miller Road nightly from Monday, July 7 through Saturday, July 12 for repairs. Traffic will be detoured (using the southbound I-75 connector ramp) and ramps like the Miller Road and Bristol Road entries (for northbound access) will also close during the work. MLive
REAL ESTATE NEWS
- ➤ A Famous Dave’s restaurant property on Miller Road is close to being sold for just over $3 million, with the 6,315-square-foot building and 135 parking spaces on 1.64 acres set to change owners within 10 days. The buyer is an out-of-state investor and the restaurant will continue under its long-term lease (the property was built in 1985 and has seen recent upgrades). MLive
