- ➤ Alley Fest will return to Buckham Alley in Downtown Flint on Saturday, July 12 from 2 to 10 p.m., featuring live music, food trucks including Mexicrunch and Happy Camper Ice Cream + a beer tent with over 60 local vendors. The free festival will take place rain or shine and aims to showcase local art and community spirit. MLive
- ➤ Linden Police and Argentine Township Police held a Pack the Cruiser event on Thursday afternoon to honor former restaurant owner Shirley Baldwin and longtime police chief Hank Kelly by sending care packages to deployed troops + raising over $1,300 in donations. ENVIRONMENT NEWS
- ➤ Michigan’s Department of Natural Resources has started the design phase for Flint’s first state park—Michigan’s 104th—and the project will see connecting trails built among five park districts linked to the Iron Belle Trail using over $50 million in grants and donations. Trail construction will begin later this summer with additional work on the riverbank unit planned for early fall, and the park will open in fall 2026. ABC 12

- ➤ Team One Credit Union launched its new Financial Empowerment Program yesterday to help local customers improve money management and planning. The credit union aims to offer education and support that will guide members in making better financial decisions. ABC 12
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ Lt. Governor Garlin Gilchrist spoke at the Mid-Michigan NOW studio in Genesee County on July 10th where he discussed Michigan's road repairs, electric vehicles, and tariffs with anchor Mike Woolfolk. His remarks focused on the state's future plans for infrastructure and economic policy (from a detailed broadcast interview). Mid-Michigan Now
- ➤ On July 9th, the Michigan Court of Appeals ruled that Mayor Sheldon Neeley bypassed council approval by forming an ARPA committee to advise on spending $18 million in federal COVID-19 funds and sent the case back to Genesee County Circuit Court. Flint officials said they respect the decision and remain committed to transparency as the lawsuit proceeds. MLive
HEALTH NEWS
- ➤ Healthy Rides in Flint will launch three vehicles on July 14 that pick up and drop off Genesee County residents for non-emergency medical appointments, with full service expected by mid August. The company held its ribbon cutting on July 10 and will also offer paid rides for exercise classes and senior center visits — all covered by Medicare, Medicaid and private insurance. Mid-Michigan Now

- ➤ Tomorrow, July 12, the Block Party will take place at historic Atwood Stadium in Flint during a Flint City Bucks soccer game—featuring DJs, food, vendors, and bounce houses that add a new twist to this annual event.
