CRIME NEWS
- ➤ A Flint family seeks justice after Taswala Williams was fatally beaten and stabbed on her 50th birthday—she was found on the sidewalk near the former General Optical on July 1 at 5 a.m. and Flint police continue to investigate the attack. ABC 12
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ MDOT said repairs to the Miller Road bridge at I-75 in Flint Township will extend one lane closure in both directions until July 19 instead of ending today, with nightly two northbound lane and select ramp closures causing delays. The $2.7-million project will repair 13 structures across several counties (including Genesee) and has posted detours (for alternate routes) to help drivers avoid the work zone. MLive
- ➤ On Wednesday, the Michigan Court of Appeals ruled that Flint and Mayor Sheldon Neeley appeared to have violated the City Charter by forming an ARPA advisory committee without proper council approval—The case was sent back to the circuit court for further fact-finding while the city reviews the decision with its legal team. - ➤ The Flint Housing Commission met all the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development corrective action plan requirements in four months and will soon begin developing plans to expand affordable housing in the city. CEO David Northern Sr. said high performance will attract additional funds + president Tredale Kennedy praised the team’s rapid progress. ABC 12

- ➤ Genesee County Health Department issued a public warning about toxic blue-green algae in Flint Park Lake and urged residents to avoid water contact — routine checks detected cyanobacteria that may produce harmful toxins causing illness. ABC 12
SPORTS NEWS
- ➤ After clinching a playoff spot with an 8–3 record, the Flint City Bucks will face Lansing City today as they aim to win their third straight Great Lakes Division title. MLive
- ➤ District 4 Senior Little League All-Stars won the Michigan Senior League State Championship and will face Kentucky in a regional tournament. The team — featuring a four-headed dragon pitching rotation — is made up of players from Genesee, Shiawassee, Oakland, and Livingston Counties. MLive
