COMMUNITY NEWS

  • Flint Pride returned downtown on Saturday, July 19th — its 15th year — as local artists, community organizations and businesses set up tents at the Downtown Flat Lot. Attendees showed strong support during the event.  Mid-Michigan Now
  • On July 18, Porchfest in Carriage Town brought about 20 musical acts performing on porches and makeshift stages — hundreds of residents enjoyed live music, food, and family-friendly activities as nearly 45 vendors set up booths. The festival marked six years of uniting neighbors with closing performances by Jon Connor and Jeff Skigh.  MLive

CRIME NEWS

  • Grand Blanc Township Police arrested 20-year-old Ter-ray Pendleton on July 15 after he allegedly fired shots during a road rage incident on July 5 (a 9mm firearm linked to the evidence was recovered) and he now faces 13 felony charges.  Mid-Michigan Now

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Flint's Summerfield Early Childhood Center will reopen Tuesday, July 22 at 10 a.m.—the upgraded facility at 1360 Milbourne Ave now has a new main entrance, repaired parking lot, new windows, a repaired roof and a new boiler system to enhance safety and comfort for Early Head Start and Head Start Preschool students and families.  Flint Beat

  • The Flint City Council will return from its summer break next week after a first half marked by division and distrust. Officials and residents have expressed concern about the ongoing gridlock (as detailed by local reporting).  MLive

  • A hotel near Bishop International Airport is up for sale at $7.2 million in Mundy Township. Built in 2000 and renovated in 2017—this 69-room property features guest amenities such as an indoor pool, hot tub, fitness center, business center, airport shuttle and meeting rooms—and is being marketed by agents at Marcus & Millichap.  MLive
