- ➤ Mid-Michigan is hosting several events this weekend including today’s Friday Night Live concert at Morley Plaza in Saginaw, an outdoor screening of Inside Out 2 at Jolt Credit Union Event Park, and the Labadie Rib Fest in Bay City running until July 28. In Flint, the Gus Macker Basketball Tournament runs until July 27 and The Founder with Aranda show starts at 6 p.m. today at The Machine Shop—providing local residents with a range of fun activities. EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ A judge dismissed on July 22 a lawsuit by the MCC faculty union over the college’s presidential hiring process after motions by MCC and its board—alleging a conflict of interest during the vote. The union said it will continue to seek action through arbitration and other legal options after exhausting its grievance procedures. Flint Beat
- ➤ The Mid-Michigan School of Cosmetology celebrated its one-year anniversary—Nina Studer and Korri Stimac shared details on the milestone and announced scholarship giveaways for future students. ABC 12

- ➤ Residents at Wednesday's Flint City Council meeting wore purple to support domestic violence victims after Councilman Leon El-Alamin was arrested on domestic abuse charges in Mt. Morris Township. The meeting was adjourned for lack of quorum with only four of eight council members present and one seat still vacant. ABC 12
- ➤ Today, the Genesee County Board of Commissioners approved a $1.2M grant from the Charles Stewart Mott Foundation to extend Operation Arrowhead until July 31, 2026. The program works with the county sheriff, Flint police and the University of Michigan-Flint to boost downtown safety following a 2022 shooting incident — its patrol area now covers more neighborhoods.
