- ➤ An activist who brought a casket to a protest at Mayor Neeley’s home has a trial set for Sept. 4 after he rejected a plea deal, and police shut down a speedway event in Vienna Township after a fight broke out. Other updates include a new Hyundai dealership proposed in Grand Blanc, a millage vote on parks and trails set for Aug. 5, uncertainty over a canceled semiconductor factory on the megasite, and Flint’s mayor asking the council to evaluate the city’s water system — all reflecting many changes in our area. - ➤ The 51st Annual Gus Macker 3-on-3 Basketball Tournament brought teams from across Michigan and beyond to downtown Flint’s Flat Lot on Saturday with early check-in and games starting at 8:30 a.m. after an opening ceremony that included a blessing from Major Randy Hellstrom — championship matchups took place on Sunday while funds were raised for the Salvation Army L.I.F.E.
