  • On July 30th, the Genesee County Land Bank announced that it will transform the abandoned James Lumber Yard into THE SHOP, a renovated 4,000 square foot pole barn for maintenance crews. The project will include a mechanic's shop and storage areas aimed at boosting efficiency in Flint — a change expected to enhance local operations.  Mid-Michigan Now
  • Lauren Mills, a Holly resident battling stage 4 cancer, is undergoing six rounds of chemo and ongoing immunotherapy while her family faces work and medical challenges; the community is uniting to support her. A benefit + silent auction with a 50/50 raffle will be held on August 2nd from 1-5 p.m. at 222 Elm Street to help ease their expenses.  Mid-Michigan Now

CRIME NEWS

  • Flint police have identified suspects in a series of weekend shootings on the north side that left two people dead and seven injured—one incident at the illegal Van Club and another linked to a road rage shooting—and officers plan further arrests once additional evidence is available.  ABC 12

  • Local leaders in Flint met on July 29 to talk about Social Security as it nears its 90th anniversary on August 14—pushing for stronger protections.   • Hurley Medical Center hosted a grand opening Tuesday for its new Hurley Center for Reconstructive Surgery in Mundy Township—demonstrating its commitment to advanced patient care— as Dr. Ihab Saab now leads the center to offer reconstructive options for chronic pain, amputee relief, and restorative breast cancer surgery.
