CULTURE NEWS
- ➤ On Saturday, the Sloan Museum of Discovery hosted its first-ever Behind the Panels event for adults and featured vendors showcasing comic books, action figures, video games and other nostalgic items—ticket prices were $5 for Genesee County residents and $15 for out-of-county guests while visitors had access to the Hall of Heroes exhibit. GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ Today, the Genesee County Road Commission closed the section of Belsay Road between Richfield Road and Shamrock Lane for a reconstruction project + road diet that will convert it to a three-lane design. A detour via Richfield Road to Irish Road to Coldwater Road will help drivers, though they should allow extra travel time + the project is expected to finish by the end of August. MLive
SPORTS NEWS
- ➤ Kyle Hayes, a fourth-generation racer from Waterford, will compete in the War of the Wake at the Mott Lake Regatta on Aug. 9-10; the event takes place at Bluebell Beach (5500 N. Bray Road) where races run from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. and food trucks, live music, and a beer garden will attract local fans. MLive
