CRIME NEWS

  • Police are looking for a suspect after a man was found dead with a gunshot wound in his car at Savory Village Apartments (3900 block of Hammerberg Rd.) on Thursday shortly after 8:30 a.m., and detectives urge anyone with information to call Flint Police Detective Kyle Brandon at 810-237-6968.  Mid-Michigan Now

CULTURE NEWS

  • The Flint Institute of Arts will host 810 Day on Sunday, August 10 from 1 to 5 p.m. and offer deals such as 8.10% off museum shop Flint merch (members save even more), a $8.10 Palette Café special, $8.10 off memberships and free Hot Shop demos from McLaren Health Care.  Mid-Michigan Now

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Genesee County Board of Canvassers finished reviewing write-in ballots for Flint's Third Ward City Council election but has not certified the result—military and overseas ballots are still being collected while voters with mail-in issues have three days to correct errors. The seat remains vacant as the county finalizes the certification process.  ABC 12
  • Genesee County 911 Dispatch moved to its new 19,900 square foot facility in Flint Township on Tuesday—this larger location now accommodates extra staff and equipment to better serve local residents.  ABC 12

  • Dentist Dr. Raymond Gist—who has practiced for over 50 years—was inducted into the Genesee Health Plan Health Care Hall of Fame during Thursday's awards ceremony that recognized local health care providers.  Mid-Michigan Now
