  • The long-awaited North Flint Food Market will hold a job fair on Monday, Aug 18 from 1-7 p.m. at 5402 N. Clio Road to fill key positions for the new member-owned co-op grocery store—on-site interviews aim to help create up to 30 local jobs as the market prepares for its grand opening later this year.  MLive

CRIME NEWS

  • Police identified an 18-year-old victim of a fatal shooting downtown Flint on Aug. 10 — the police are investigating the case.  MLive

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Flint Police Department is enforcing a Special Public Events Curfew Ordinance for minors under 17 from August 14 to August 16 — the rule applies daily from 6:00 p.m. until 6:00 a.m. in an area stretching from 5th Avenue south to I-69 and S. bound Chavez to Church Street — to keep Back to the Bricks event safe.  Mid-Michigan Now

HEALTH NEWS

  • World champion Claressa Shields shared her story of overcoming childhood sexual abuse at a Flint Police Department’s Sapphires Unit conference, urging survivors to heal— the event continues tomorrow from noon to 4 p.m. at the Riverfront Banquet Center.  Mid-Michigan Now

SPORTS NEWS

  • Coach Gary Lee said the Flint Hamady football team will use strong physical play as its senior class works to uphold a legacy of ten straight winning seasons. The team reached the playoffs in nine of the last ten seasons—a record they plan to continue as they prepare for the 2025 season.  MLive
