- ➤ The Ally Challenge announced the fourth annual Women of Influence Luncheon scheduled for August 21 from noon to 2 at Warwick Hills Golf & Country Club—an event that will honor women's achievements in Southeastern Michigan with prominent panelists and has limited tickets remaining. - ➤ Flint’s north side is set to get its first community-owned grocery store at North Flint Food Market on the corner of Clio and Pierson Roads, and a job fair will be held on Monday from 1 p.m. to 7 p.m.—it will offer on-site interviews for eight management roles needed to address the food desert since Kroger closed in 2014, according to interim general manager Chris Morris. - ➤ FBI’s 2024 report shows that two Michigan cities are among the nation’s most violent. In Flint, 20 homicides were recorded by FBI data compared with 34 cited in local reports—critics say these differences raise questions about data accuracy. MLive

- ➤ On Aug. 14, hundreds of cars rolled along Saginaw Street from downtown Flint to Grand Blanc High School for Back to the Bricks Rolling Cruise—thousands of fans gathered to watch local bars, families, and a live band create a festive atmosphere. The event continues with Cruise n Concert Friday from 6:00 p.m.—9:30 p.m. and Main Event Saturday from 10:00 a.m.—7:00 p.m. MLive
- ➤ The Back to the Bricks Cruise N Concert took place in downtown Flint on Friday—marking the fourth day of Main Event Week—with car displays on Saginaw Street and live music by The Regulators followed by Packin Heat. - ➤ Mt. Morris Consolidated Schools and Flushing Community Schools will ban cell phone use during class starting August 25—students must keep their devices off and stored away during lessons. Officials say the rule will help reduce distractions and improve focus during academic time. MLive
- ➤ Parents gathered today in Flint for the first session of the Flint Parent Collaborative—a workshop that taught them to advocate for their children at school and home.
