  • FlintStones held its 3rd annual back-to-school festival at Haskell Center where the Flint Police Activities League handed out school supplies, face painting, children’s books and entertainment to families. Calvin McQueen said the event—designed to help local children succeed—will continue each year with a toy giveaway planned for December.  ABC 12

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Recent Flint news shows that the New Jersey Real Estate Network called Flint City Hall the ugliest building in the nation while a City Council candidate filed a lawsuit for alleged absentee ballot misconduct. Free street parking on Saginaw Street continues today as the new payment system is delayed—other stories include a lottery win, Medicaid cuts warning, a felony conviction and a township dispute over a semiconductor megasite.  MLive

SPORTS NEWS

  • Runners from all backgrounds gathered on Aug. 23 at the 48th annual Crim Festival of Races in Flint, where the event featured races including the 10-mile, 5-mile, 5K, and Teddy Trot. Many participants wore creative costumes and embraced long-held traditions—demonstrating the festival's strong community spirit.  MLive
