- ➤ Flint police are asking for help to locate D'Michael Edwards Jr., a 31-year-old man last seen on July 8 in the 700 block of West Genesee Street while wearing a T-shirt and blue jeans—family reported he was missing nearly eight weeks ago and urged anyone with information to call 911. ABC 12
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ A coalition of Flint area groups called for Metro Police to end its ICE cooperation agreement, which police chief Matt Bade signed in June, saying it lets officers check immigration status during routine stops. The group demanded immediate termination+ full document disclosure and more support for immigrant families, warning the pact harms trust in law enforcement. MLive
HEALTH NEWS
- ➤ Michigan State University has opened a 40,000 square foot public health center in downtown Flint on First Street through a public-private partnership with the Mott Foundation and Uptown Reinvestment Corporation—its new facility will allow students to meet patients and work on research to address issues like the Flint water crisis, maternal health, and childhood development. - ➤ At the 48th annual Crim Festival of Races in Flint, runner Paul from Grand Blanc suffered a life-threatening cardiac arrest near the 8-mile marker and volunteer Sarah Satkowiak — using her Army National Guard combat medic training — performed CPR for over 15 minutes until paramedics arrived. Paul now has a pulse and is recovering at Hurley’s Cath Lab. ABC 12
- ➤ At Hurley Medical Center in Flint, 19 babies were born in a 38-hour delivery marathon between Aug. 20 and Aug. 21 — including 10 girls, 9 boys, and two sets of twins, with 12 babies delivered in just 10 hours. MLive
