- ➤ Local unions, workers and law enforcement marched along Bristol Rd. in the second annual Labor Day parade on Monday as hundreds gathered to honor the American labor movement. The Genesee County Sheriff’s Office organized the event, which celebrated Labor Day on its traditional day. Mid-Michigan Now
- ➤ Union workers marched during the second annual Labor Day Parade on Monday, Sept 1, in Flint, distributing candy and speaking with local spectators along Van Slyke Road from Bristol Road Church of Christ — Sitdowners Memorial Park. The parade honored local unions and community solidarity as members later gathered for speeches and refreshments. MLive
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ Flint Police are expanding active shooter training for businesses, churches, and organizations to help people learn if they should run, shelter in place, or fight—Chief Terence Green and Sheriff Chris Swanson noted the training comes as 339 mass shootings have been reported in 2025. ABC 12
HEALTH NEWS
- ➤ On Labor Day, hundreds of unionized nurses and case workers represented by Teamsters Local 332 went on strike at Henry Ford Genesys Hospital along Holly Road in Grand Blanc Township—fulfilling their promise to protest current working conditions. The strike occurred on Sept. 1 and marked a significant action in the ongoing labor dispute. MLive
