- ➤ The Flint Branch NAACP is hosting its 43rd Annual Freedom Fund Dinner—'The Fierce Urgency of Now!'—at St. Michael’s Conference Center on Saturday, September 20 with a VIP reception at 5:00 p.m. and dinner at 6:00 p.m. Rev. Dr. Wendell Anthony will deliver the keynote address and awards will honor local community leaders. Mid-Michigan Now
- ➤ Four local businesses including Caught My Eye Barber and Beauty Supply, Flint Stool & Chair Co, Blackstone Smokehouse, and Flint Crepe Company received $20,000 grants this afternoon as Flint honored its small business champions. More businesses will be recognized in the coming weeks as part of a program that will eventually support 20 enterprises—boosting local downtown success. Mid-Michigan Now
- ➤ Local rapper Baby Face E donated $20,000 worth of fishing gear to a foster care event in Flint where children learned how to fish. He actively led the activity during rainy weather + the kids enjoyed trying fishing for the first time. ABC 12

- ➤ Genesee County prosecutors have scheduled a trial for Detroit man Omar Brogdon, who is accused of fatally shooting Orhan Hosic during a disputed Facebook Marketplace meet-up in Fenton Township—he faces first-degree murder charges linked to a luxury car dispute. MLive

- ➤ The Good Beans Café in Flint will host its annual Goodstock festival tomorrow from 3—9 p.m. on its north lawn featuring live music by local performers and Chicago-style blues band Larry B and the Boomers. The free, family-friendly event will also offer food trucks from Yvette’s Tacos, The Local Grocer and Paula’s Ice Cream Truck along with the café’s espresso beverages. MLive
- ➤ Patrick Kane McGregor is painting a mural on the side of Moffett Food Services in Flint to honor his brother who lost use of his right arm due to cancer—he will add a lavender ribbon to represent all cancers and honor his wife’s battle.
