  • Steven Brewer has opened 810 Munchies in Dort Mall to provide a safe space for autistic children and their families—featuring interactive play areas and soft lighting. The restaurant serves comfort foods and is open Monday through Saturday—ensuring a judgment-free dining experience.  MLive

EDUCATION NEWS

  • The Boys & Girls Club of Greater Flint held a college and resource fair on Saturday where students submitted transcripts and some colleges waived application fees and provided same-day admissions decisions. Local organizers partnered with Teenz Next Door and offered FAFSA and interview preparation workshops to help young people get ready for college.  Mid-Michigan Now

HEALTH NEWS

  • Selma Blair, a Michigan actress from Southfield, said she remains relapse-free from multiple sclerosis for several years & is now returning to acting with renewed energy. She received the key to the city as an honor that marks a new chapter in her career.  MLive

SPORTS NEWS

  • Christopher Brownlee led Swartz Creek to a 31-12 win over Flint Kearsley by rushing for three touchdowns — including a 57-yard run — while Cameron Adams made three interceptions to secure the Dragons' first win of 2025. This game boosted the team's season performance in Week 5.  MLive
  • Flushing upset Linden 34—13 as Ingram scored 3 touchdowns while Goodrich stayed undefeated with Lagat adding 5 touchdowns and 472 rushing yards in Flint Metro League games. The strong local performances set the stage for upcoming matchups next week.  MLive
  • Powers Catholic’s senior defender Grant Roberts scored two goals in a 3-1 win over Bay City Western and helped secure a shutout against Lapeer as his team continues vying for a Division 3 title—he earned Flint-area Athlete of the Week honors after receiving 56 percent of the vote.  MLive
