- ➤ St. Luke N.E.W. Life Center will open its expanded facility at 3070 Pierson Road on Oct. 8 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. with guided tours, a formal ribbon-cutting, and a light lunch + the facility will add space for workforce development, family support services, and its sewing social enterprise + strengthening programs for Flint families. - ➤ Ten-year-old Evelyn Braugh from Grand Blanc set up a free flower stand in her front yard to cheer up people after a church shooting on Sept. 28 that left four dead and many hurt. Neighborhood children and families joined her effort—leaving kind notes and donating flowers while local groups held vigils and fundraisers for the victims. MLive

- ➤ On Saturday, a free health event at Hamilton Community Health Network offered mammograms, flu vaccines, beauty services, food from Bella's, and a kids' zone for games and fun.
