- ➤ Consumers Energy has rescheduled an 8-hour power outage that will affect nearly 2,900 Flint customers as crews work on a local substation to prevent unplanned outages during forecast storms. The interruption starts at 11:30 p.m. today and lasts until 7:30 a.m. Wednesday (Oct. 8). MLive
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ A proposal to require drug testing for Flint elected officials—after three similar attempts failed—is headed back to City Council as Council President Ladel Lewis requested it. The resolution will amend the city code to apply testing rules to elected officials like other city employees and will become effective immediately after publication. MLive
HEALTH NEWS
- ➤ Genesee Health System is providing mental health support and community assistance following the Grand Blanc church tragedy—where four died and eight were injured—by offering free services at the Grand Blanc McFarlan Library this week and next, along with 24/7 hotline access. Mid-Michigan Now
- ➤ Genesee Health System is providing free walk-in mental health support at the Grand Blanc-McFarlen Library (515 Perry Road) from Oct. 6 to Oct. 17, with service hours of noon to 8 p.m. Monday through Thursday and noon to 5 p.m. Friday, for community members coping with the church shooting that killed four and injured eight on Sept. 28.
