COMMUNITY NEWS
- ➤ The Catholic Charities Center for Hope warming center in Flint will allow only 45 people to sleep safely in its main space this winter due to spacing limits as other shelter facilities undergo renovations. The center plans to clear its Community Closet to provide 78 additional spaces for women and children—officials worry the lower capacity may leave some without shelter. ABC 12
- ➤ A benefit event called 'Hope in Action' supported St. Luke N.E.W. Life Center on October 14—organizers said the gathering brought needed support to the center. ABC 12
- ➤ St. Mark Missionary Baptist Church held a restoration service at Calvary Church after a firebombing in August left its congregation without a building, and Pastor Kevin Thompson said the church will reopen Sunday—drawing support from many denominations. ABC 12

- ➤ Sloan Museum and Longway Planetarium in Flint will host special events soon—organizers are finalizing details for programs that will engage local residents. ABC 12
- ➤ Flint Children's Museum is planning its Boo Bash Halloween party on October 25th from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.—offering family activities such as a petting farm, Boo Bubbles, ghost fishing and fizzy cauldrons for guests to enjoy. Mid-Michigan Now

- ➤ Dr. Sudesh Ebenezer filed a lawsuit against Hurley Medical Center over a December 2022 incident when he prepared to operate on a 12-month-old who later died after the hospital mishandled the infant's care—he claims the suit addresses problems with his contract and job and seeks lost pay while Hurley said it will contest the claims in court.
