- ➤ Flint firefighter Danny Flynn died Oct 9 at age 43—he served the city for over a decade and was deeply loved by his family and colleagues. A funeral was held on Oct 14, and his commitment to helping others is remembered by the community. MLive
- ➤ William C. Ayre, a former teacher at Powers Catholic and manager of Flint roadway projects, died Friday, Oct. 17 at age 85. He was known for his strong work ethic and no-nonsense approach — leading public works that improved local streets and buildings. MLive

- ➤ This weekend, communities across Mid-Michigan offer Halloween events from today to Sunday, including UM-Flint’s Inclusive Halloween event at Riverfront Conference Center on Friday from 5 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. and other activities like a film screening in Bay City, a pumpkin light show and contest in Grand Blanc, family fun at Saginaw’s Children’s Museum, a stage show in Midland, a Wicked sing-a-long in downtown Saginaw, and a bus bash at Saginaw United High School—each with its own times and entry fees. - ➤ The Flint Institute of Arts and the Latinx Technology & Community Center will host a Día de Muertos celebration on November 1st in Flint.
